“‘Cedar Street’ is Back with Eric Wilson’s Canadian Mystery Classic”


     Lisel and Jeffrey Forst’s theatre company Cedar Street presents the worldwide premiere of Murder on the Canadian by Eric Wilson, based on his novel, at the Capitol from October 22nd to 24th, 2015. Murder on the Canadian is a comedic thriller for all-ages that follows young detective Tom Austen as he travels cross-Canada via rail attempting to solve a crime on the way. According to the Times Literary Supplement, “The action moves as fast as the train.”

    Eric Wilson Mysteries have sold millions of copies worldwide in over ten languages.  While teaching locally Eric researched and wrote The Kootenay Kidnapper, set in Nelson and throughout the region including the Cody Caves.  His Murder on the Canadian novel is celebrating its fortieth consecutive year in-print and was recently included in CBC Books 100:  100 young adult books that make you proud to be Canadian.  Eric Wilson and his wife Flo will attend the opening night of Murder on the Canadian and will sign books at Otter’s Books at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 25th.  Having spoken at schools throughout North America in support of literacy and the fun art of story-telling, Eric will also be making his presentation to local students while in Nelson.

    Directed by Jeffrey, Murder on the Canadian features Tucker Bingham as Tom Austen with Lisel, Sydney Black, Mackenzie Hope, Darren Fuss, Evan Forst, Molly Strachan and Ty Wright among others in the all-star cast. Cedar Street produced over a dozen shows such as Fore-play and Raz in the early millennium while Jeffrey founded Nelson Youth Theatre and Lisel became a professional hairstylist at Enso Hair Design. Recently, Jeffrey directed Lisel’s Bedtime Rhymes Pantomime for the Capitol Theatre while she helmed Black Productions’ hit musical Chicago in which he played Billy Flynn.

     Lisel Forst is an actor, director and emcee who is adding standup comic to her list of bonafides, on November 9th & 10th in the Front Room, and November 18th at Torchlight Brewing Company.


    The charismatic star of “Puss in Boots”, “Steel Magnolias”, “Les Ms.” and “Cop Shop/Grow Op”, Lisel directed “Chicago” and “Rock of Ages” , while serving as the go-to host of Vesper Valentine’s hot burlesque scene and countless civic events.


    Skilled at improv and funny as heck, Lisel is a talented performer who loves a mike and a sweet audience. As half of the comedic duo, Skydney & Sleazle, who opened for the Trailer Park Boys’ Randy & Mr. Leahey, Lisel knows how to melt a crowd into the palm of her hand and lick them off.


    Make up a song on the spot, seduce a frightened audience-member, or execute the finest rock-lunges this side of the Rockies, Banff native Lisel Forst will keep you on your tiptoes with her razzle-dazzle display of humorous virtuosity. Special guests open each laugh-studded affair.
